People & Blogs - Episode 191: Off to Kashgar we go!
Against all advice from everybody (literally everyone, i even get emails telling me not to go), I've decided to head to Kashgar. there were serveral attack in just the month of July alone a restaraunt blew up, a guy got his head chopped up in a crowd, a police station was attacked and officers killed. Tourists were flooding out of Kashgar, but I feel that if one don't go to Kashgar, why even go to Xinjiang at all? I wanted the middle east experience without leaving China. and I shall get it!Views:

News & Politics - Chinese Regime Steps Up Police Presence in Xinjiang Region
For more news and videos visit ➡ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ➡ http Add us on Facebook ➡ on.fb.me Chinese leaders plan to dispatch 8000 extra police to the western region of Xinjiang, in what they say is an effort to insure order. In the heavily Muslim province that is home to the Uighur ethnic group, the influx of Han Chinese to the area has caused tensions that have led to violence in the past. In 2009, riots broke out between Han Chinese and Uighurs in the capital city of Urumqi—killing 200 people. Also adding to the tension are hiring practices that favor Han Chinese and laws and regulations that limit the Uighurs' ability to freely practice their faith. Protests by Uighurs in the region—and in the restive Tibetan region to the south—have been met by shows of overwhelming force, with police and the army firing live ammunition into crowds of protesters and many arrests. Chinese officials call the plan to step up police presence in Xinjiang, "one officer, one village." It's part the Chinese regime's heavy-handed approach to maintaining control this year when its leadership changes hands in Beijing.Views:

Entertainment - Geng He: I want to see Gao Zhisheng, whether alive or dead.
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com Lawyer Gao Zhisheng is called the "Conscience of China". He has suffered secret kidnapping and torture for a long time at the hands of Chinese national security police. Recently, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) announced he will be put into Shaya prison in Xinjiang province for 3 years. The prison didn't allow relatives to visit him. His wife, Geng He told NTD that she felt Gao may have been persecuted to death. She asked the authorities to give an explanation of Gao Zhisheng's status. To show him "alive and appear in public, [or in] death wants to see corpse". Shaya prison banned Gao Zhisheng's family from visiting, on the excuse that he doesn't want to see his family. In addition, there is a three month education period. Geng He, Gao's wife has called the prison continuously, but nobody answers the phone. Geng He: "We feel that he may be in an unexpected status, may be persecuted to death. CCP can't give an explanation to the family, and use this as an excuse. As family members, we only can think like this. The prison didn't allow us to visit, didn't allow us to see whether he is inside or not. They didn't allow us to visit, and didn't provide any evidence to show he is inside." Jiang Tianyong, a Chinese human rights lawyer said, it's illegal to ban the family visit. Mo Shaoping, Lawyer Gao's attorney, thought it can't be verified that Gao doesn't want to see his family. In addition, Mo's law firm …Views:

Travel & Events - Chinese Lawyer Gao Zhisheng’s Family Demands Proof he’s in Shaya Prison
For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me Since Chinese authorities announced that rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng was being held in a remote prison in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Gao's brother and family members have made the 2000-mile journey to see him, only to be refused admittance by prison staff. Now family members are demanding proof that Gao is actually in the prison at all. After traveling almost 2000 miles, Gao Zhisheng's brother and several other family members arrived at Shaya Prison in China's western Xinjiang Autonomous Region. But prison authorities refused them access to Gao. Gao Zhisheng, a self taught lawyer who defended vulnerable groups such as house Christians and Falun Gong practitioners, has been missing for 20 months. The Chinese regime recently announced he is being held at Shaya Prison and must serve a three-year sentence. The prison told Gao's brother that they couldn't see him because Gao himself didn't want to see anyone, and was also going through a three-month "education period." But Gao's wife, now living in the US, is suspicious and wants evidence that Gao is even in the prison. [Geng He, Gao Zhisheng's Wife]: "Because the Communist regime has no way to explain, they look for excuses. Our whole family wants so much to see if he is alive… we want to see him, if he is dead we want to see his body. Because the (authorities) have given us this bit of information, we will …Views:

News & Politics - Safety of Gao Zhisheng Draws Worldwide Attention
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com After three days of travel covering 3000+ kilometers, Gao Zhisheng's brother, father in law and two others arrived in Shaya prison of Aksu, Xinjiang, but the prison staff refused to let them see Gao. Gao's safety has attracted great attention from foreign media and online netizens; some urged on their micro-blogs to concentrate on Shaya, urged the prison to show evidence that Gao is in the prison. Gao Zisheng's family traveled thousands of kilometers only to be refused visitation by the prison. This attracted attention from many foreign media including The Washington Post, Guardian, BBC Chinese network, Voice of America, Deutsche Welle and others. Shaya prison gave two reasons: 1) Gao doesn't want to see family. 2) Gao is currently in a three months "new inmate education period," he can only see family if he does well during this period. Many netizens criticized these excuses as "ridiculous" and "very suspicious." On the micro-blog, "Safety of Gao Ziheng" again became a discussion topic. A netizen wrote on 10th Jan, "Urge the whole world to concentrate on Shaya, have the prison provide evidence that Gao is there. The prison must let family speak to Gao, and have him say 'don't want to see you' personally. This is the only way to stop people worrying." Voice of America Chinese host Zhan Min wrote, "Lawyer Gao has been missing for twenty months, still without a trace, the world must watch China's …Views:
